Environmental rules

Protected marine zones: overflights and landings may be restricted near coral reefs and ecological sanctuaries. Support for eco-tourism and sustainable aviation growing among resorts and airports. SAF not required, but carbon offsets encouraged for yachts and flights to exclusive islands.

Travelling with pets

Import permit required in advance from Bahamas Dept. of Agriculture. Health certificate, microchip, and up to date rabies vaccine needed. No quarantine if requirements are met. Many private villas and resorts are pet friendly with prior arrangement, especially in the Exumas and Eleuthera.

Entry and visas

Visa free entry for up to 90 days for US, UK, EU, Canada, LATAM, and most travelers. Passport must be valid for the duration of the stay. No vaccines required unless arriving from yellow fever risk countries.

Arrival and departure

Valid passport + return or onward ticket. Customs declaration for goods over $10,000. Flight plans and landing permits required for private aircraft. No visa required for most short stay visitors.

Approx. 1–3 hours from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, NYC, or Atlanta.

Approx. 9–11 hours, usually via stopover in the US or Caribbean.

The Bahamas is a private jet playground, with multiple VIP ready airports across the islands: Light & Mid size Jets (e.g. Phenom 300, Learjet 75) ideal for US–Bahamas hops. Ultra Long Range Jets (e.g. Global 6000, Gulfstream G700) use Nassau as a Caribbean gateway. Key jet friendly airports with FBOs: Nassau (MYNN), North Eleuthera (MYEH), Marsh Harbour (MYAM), Great Exuma (MYEF), Bimini (MYBS). Where available, we can request lounge access, expedited customs and onward transfers to villas or yachts.
