Environmental rules

Saudi Arabia is expanding its sustainability goals, particularly in NEOM and the Red Sea Project. Airport developments are focusing on eco efficient architecture and low-emissions targets. Overflight in sacred zones (Makkah, Madinah) is prohibited for non authorized aircraft.

Travelling with pets

Import permit required, plus health certificate, rabies vaccination, and microchip. Religious restrictions apply to certain dog breeds (considered unclean). Quarantine may apply depending on documentation and origin. Very few hotels are pet friendly, so advance arrangements are strongly recommended for anyone traveling with pets.

Entry and visas

eVisa available for travelers from US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, and many others. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months. Women are no longer required to wear abayas, but modest clothing is encouraged. Note: Alcohol is strictly prohibited.

Arrival and departure

Valid passport + approved eVisa (for tourism or business). Full customs inspection required. Flight plans and clearances must be approved in advance. Declaration needed for cash or valuables over $60,000 SAR (~$16,000 USD).

Approx. 13–15 hours from NYC or Miami to Riyadh or Jeddah (typically 1 stop).
  • From Europe
Approx. 5–7 hours from Paris, London, Frankfurt, or Rome.
  • Airports and aircraft
Saudi Arabia is investing heavily in premium aviation infrastructure: Ultra Long Range Jets (e.g. Gulfstream G700, Global 7500) for US–KSA direct flights. Mid size Jets (e.g. Falcon 2000, Legacy 500) for regional connections within GCC Top private jet airports: Riyadh King Khalid Intl (OERK), Jeddah King Abdulaziz (OEJN), AlUla (OEAO), Dammam (OEDF), NEOM Bay Airport (OENN). Where available, we can request protocol support and ground services.
