Environmental rules

Egypt is gradually introducing sustainability policies, particularly in Red Sea zones and near archaeological sites. Certain airspaces may have altitude or timing restrictions to protect monuments. Noise restrictions may apply in Luxor and Aswan.

Travelling with pets

– Pets must have International Health Certificate, up-to-date rabies vaccine, and an import permit issued by Egyptian authorities – Quarantine not usually required if documents are complete – Advance notice must be sent to airport vet authorities; Cairo is the main port of entry for pets – Luxury resorts in Sharm El Sheikh and El Gouna may accommodate pets upon request

Entry and visas

eVisa required for most travelers (US, EU, UK, LatAm) and must be obtained prior to arrival. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry. Travelers arriving via private jet must have visas pre-approved.

Arrival and departure

– eVisa must be obtained before arrival for most travelers – Visa on arrival is possible at major airports only for select nationalities – Customs declaration required for valuables, including jewelry or large cash amounts – Private flight operators must coordinate with civil aviation for landing slots and security clearance at least 48–72 hrs in advance
